ANNOUNCES CHAIR IN A UNIVERSITY OF STATE FOR RESEARCH AND STUDY ON TEACHINGS OF LORD JESUS CHRIST & HOLY BIBLE

The Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Saturday extended warm greetings to the people of the State especially Christian community on the sacred occasion of Christmas.

Addressing a religious function organized by Raman Hans Ministry, the Chief Minister said that Christmas is an occasion of joy as well as piety not only for the Christians but the people of all the religions. “The teachings of peace, love, harmony and coexistence preached by the Lord Jesus Christ hold significance in the present times also”, said Channi. 
The Chief Minister also announced to set up a Chair at the university level for carrying out research and study on the teachings of Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible. He also handed over a cheque to the tune of Rs. 10 lakh to the Raman Hans Ministry besides announcing the financial assistance worth Rs. 10 lakh for the Langar hall during the program held by the Voice of Peace Ministry and added that such occasions further cement the bond of communal harmony apart from inspiring the society to work for humanity in a selfless manner. 
The Chief Minister further pointed out that the Congress party is a secular one which advocates the principle of equality. He also emphasized that every festival should be celebrated in a United manner by the people of all the religions so as to strengthen the secular fabric of the nation. 
Afterwards, the Chief Minister paid obeisance at Gurudwara Sri Qatalgarh Sahib and prayed for ‘Sarbat Da Bhala’.
