The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has conducted a Capacity Building Programme under Swachh Survekshan 2022 today at Mahilla Bhawan, Sector 38 Chandigarh on the following subjects including Prohibition of employment as Manual Scavengers and their rehabilitation act 2013, occupational Health & Safety, Sexual Harassment of women at workplace , prevention, prohibition and redressal act 2013 and Disaster Management and Epidemic awareness.
Two no professional speakers namely Gaurav Kalia from HSE PRAKASH Consultancy, Panchkula and Sh. Kaka Ram Verma, Chief Trainer, Patiala on First AID, Safety, Health awareness were invited. The programme started at 10AM and ended at 1 PM. About 100 workers from participated in the programme.
Sh. Gaurav Kalai gave complete information to the officers and workers of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh about Manual Scavenging Act 2013. He informed the workers that the Manual Scavenging under act is completely banned. The insanitary latrine must be demolished if comes in notice any time.
The state Government has to give one time cash incentive about Rs 40,000/- for rehabilitation. All the workers must cover under Ayushman Bharat Scheme. He also informed about safety gears to use while cleaning the sewers. He also trained to the workers about the type gases produced in the Sewerage system. The workers also trained how to wear the safety gears and their uses. The speaker also give information about Sexual Harassment of women at work place , prevention, prohibition and redressal act 2013 and Disaster Management and Epidemic awareness.

Sh. Kaka Ram Verma from Patiala give complete training about the first aid to the injured worker before taking to hospital. The first aid is very necessary at the time of accident as many persons died on the way to hospital. He gave the complete information on Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). He called the workers on the stage and practically trained them how to give CPR to the injured person. The officers and workers gained a lot from this workshop.
